For transformers in operation, how to judge whether all cooling units have stopped is a critical issue that requires close attention. Once all coolers stop running, the transformer temperature will remain high, its operating efficiency will drop, and overload will occur, bringing potential hazards such as permanent equipment damage and increased energy consumption. So how can we determine if all coolers are out of service?
The transformer oil temperature rises rapidly, and the temperature curve shows obvious abnormal changes.
The indicator lights monitoring the operation of transformer cooling fans go out.
Some faults are accompanied by alarm signals such as "Loss of Auxiliary Power" or "Cooler Fault".
After preliminary judgment, further inspections shall be carried out as follows:
Check whether the power indicator light inside the cooling control cabinet is off to confirm loss or failure of the auxiliary power supply.
Check the position of each miniature circuit breaker inside the cooling control cabinet to see if the thermal relay has tripped.
Inspect cable terminals inside the cooling control cabinet for abnormalities and verify whether the auxiliary power supply suffers phase loss.
Check if the auxiliary power fuses for coolers in the station service power distribution room are blown and whether cable terminals show burnout signs.
Check the position of the automatic transfer switch for standby power to confirm successful power switchover.
