Reasons for Grounding the Transformer Shell To ensure personal safety, the transformer casing must be grounded. When the insulation in the transformer's interior or other parts is damaged, the casing will become electrified, and an electric shock accident to personnel may occur. If a grounding device is installed, the leakage current will flow through the transformer casing and the grounding device into the ground, avoiding an electric shock accident to personnel. Especially for temporarily installed transformers, more attention should be paid.
